About Us
We're a Christian alt-rock band, playing a combination of original rock, contemporary Christian, and whatever other covers we feel like playing. Be sure to check out the music section for a full list of songs that we play!
What's in a Name?
Well, the "Noisy" part is obvious if you've ever heard us, but the "Kung Fu" part is two-fold.
Firstly, George (lead guitarist) is a Kung Fu master...you may call him...
"Masta". Also, Tony (backup vocals) has a black belt in Kung
Fu.
There is also correlation between Kung Fu as a fighting style and all of us
Christians being soldiers in God's army.
Secondly, Kung Fu literally means, "a skill or art attained by laborious effort." We've all worked very hard to get to where we are, and we keep pressing forward!

I was forced into school choir in the seventh grade when we moved to East Texas and picked up an acoustic guitar at the age of 25. I got my start in my one-man-band (Squid and Aloe) playing acoustic sets. I "walked forward" at the age of six, but then turned my life to Christ at the age of 21. Since then, God has taken hold of my heart and continues to draw me closer daily. I use a Shure SM-58 microphone and a Boss VE-20 vocal effects processor. I don't always play guitar, but when I do, my electric guitar is a Schecter Hellraiser Solo6, my backup is an Ibanez G10, and my acoustic is an Ibanez AEG-10E...all played over a Line 6 Spider II 112 amp. Influences include: the God who created us all and desires to be with us for eternity and in us now via His Holy Spirit; Jesus Christ, my personal Lord and Savior who died for us, was raised again, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and is coming back for us; and my gorgeous and amazingly supportive wife, Krystal. I listen to just about any style of music, but my major musical influences are: Red, Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Lecrae, Shinedown, and Linkin Park. |

I was born into a traditional Lutheran family, baptized as an infant, and confirmed into the Church as I came of age. I have seen and felt the Spirit move in and for me many times in falls from motorcycles to falls from grace. Been at war with Satan all my life (allowing him to win more battles than I'd care to admit), yet I know the final victory is mine through the blood of Christ Jesus. I cut my musical teeth listening to bands like Kiss, Aerosmith, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, and Ted Nugent. I saw Van Halen's first tour back in the day on a first date with my wife. I used to play bass as a kid, but it was Ray who re-invigorated my musical interest. Steve, Eric, Tony and Jax round out the band. My principal guitars are a Gibson Les Paul Goddess and Gibson ES-339 through a Carvin VT-16 amp head. A Carvin Nomad combination amp stands in reserve. For me, influence is more of atmosphere than of history, so I choose to surround myself with people whom not only believe in and love Jesus Christ, but are willing to take strides to walk in His Word and share the teachings of "saved by grace alone as a free gift from God." A shout out as well to my family and friends whom not only support me and our band, but our mission as well...especially my loving wife Jeanette. |

Influences include my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who loves us all even though we are sinners; my wife and kids who are living proof of how much Jesus really does love me; and wonderful parents who have been so loving and supportive. I grew up on classic rock and country music, but listen to most anything but rap or hip-hop. Musical influences include ZZ Top, CCR, Willie Nelson, Alabama, Metallica, Def Leppard...too many to name. Just starting to get into Christian music such as Jeremy Camp and Kutless. |
Eric (Floyd)bass and 12-string acoustic (and the only musician)

Okay it's great being a part of NKF, it is great working with Ray, George, Steve, Tony, Jordan, and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom is my greatest influence, since way back when. Candice and the kids, 'cause they sat through all of it and still managed to understand it was my dream. Music is also my influence; any genre from classical to rock, blues, jazz, old time gospel and some that is hard to understand, even when I was told my hands were to small to handle a guitar, much less play one. |
Tony (Kung Fu Joe)backup vox and percussion (and certified randomness)

I grew up listening to lots of music and got my start singing in the church choir. I've been friends with Ray since the seventh grade, came up with the band name, but was the last one to join NKF. Influences include: Christ; my wife, Mamie; and my daughter, Asha. Musical influences include: ThousandFootKrutch, Kutless, and WhiteCross. Oh yeah, I play a Latin Percussion cowbell and egg! |
Jordan (Jax)rhythm guitar, backup bass, and backup vox

I grew up in a Christian home and was raised to be active in church. My mother had a degree in music and eventually talked me into singing with her in church when I was in the 8th grade. My youth pastor, Tommy Harden, greatly influenced me to lead the youth worship and I was given the opportunity to sing lead for the youth band. He also influenced me to teach myself bass guitar and acoustic. I first lead worship when I was a junior in high school and decided from that point I was going to lead worship or make music for Christ for the rest of my life. I play an Ovation Custom acoustic, Fender Stratocaster electric, and an Ibanez FX 4-string bass. Currently trying to integrate a Casio CTK-601 keyboard into the mix. My influences include Jesus Christ who died and rose to give complete atonement of my sin and give me the freedom and talent to offer Him my praise, my mother and father who trained me to be a man of God, and Bro. Tommy Harden who instilled in me to better myself for the sake of Christ. As for music I gotta give a shout out to Petra (greatest Christian rock band of all time), KISS, Shinedown, Alterbridge, White Heart, and the Numa-Numa guy! |

History
Ray and George started jamming together back in '05. Ray was learning guitar and George was reviving his guitar. We played a birthday party for a friend (just the two of us) and then went back to practicing.
Then in '07 Steve-o came along (thanks to BandMix) and then Eric too (also thanks to BandMix). Three weeks later, we had our first gig as a "full" band.
Tony came along in late '08 and hit the ground running...well, actually, he had a six month long sinus infection...THEN he hit the ground running!
Jordan came along toward the end of 2011 and has been ON FIRE for praising God in NKF ever since!
